Whitehurst Information
Whitehurst of Richmond College, dedicated in the fall of 1998, is the physical home of Richmond College. Originally designed to be the "gateway" to the Richmond College residence halls, Whitehurst provides social and meeting space for students in addition to being the location of the Richmond College Dean's Office and the Student Housing Office. The architecture of Whitehurst is modeled after Thomas and Jeter Halls, the original Richmond College buildings on the current campus. The building's floor plan is based on historic models for porter's lodges and gate houses. The 11,000 square foot facility features a 52-foot clock tower, the only one on campus.
Whitehurst was made possible by an estate gift from John D. Whitehurst, Jr. (R '27, L '31). Mr. Whitehurst was a distinguished citizen, an outstanding businessman and a faithful alumnus. His brothers Lawrence (R '23) and Stuart (R '24) also were Richmond College Men.
