Student Involvement

The Richmond College Dean's Office sponsors a number of opportunities to become involved in meaningful leadership opportunities outside of the classroom. The University of Richmond experience is both curricular and extracurricular. In order to develop as a "whole person", obtaining practical involvement by participating in student leadership is invaluable.

Each of the leadership areas mentioned below provides the participant with the ability to make a substantial impact on student life at the University of Richmond. One of the benefits of the coordinate system is that men and women have the opportunity to become involved in each of these areas on an equal basis.

By assigning professional staff advisors to each of these opportunities, the Richmond College Dean's Office works hard to ensure that these involvements are meaningful. The specific opportunities are:

  • Richmond College Judicial Council
Serve as a member of the University's Judicial System charged with the enforcement of the University's code of acceptable social behavior.
  • Residence Hall Association (RHA)
Serve as a hall president of a residence hall with the purpose of implementing social programming for the hall as well as representing the physical concerns of the residence hall to the Director of Undergraduate Student Housing.
  • Richmond College Residence Hall Staff
Serve as a live-in employee of the University of Richmond responsible for administrative duties, program planning, policy enforcement and referral for residents living in the residence halls.
  • Richmond College Orientation Advisor
Serve as a leader of a group of new students during the New Student Orientation program implemented each year prior to the beginning of fall semester classes.
  • Richmond College Class Cabinet Officer
Serve as a member of a cabinet of students representing each of the four academic classes. Class cabinets implement programs designed to meet the needs of the respective classes.

Additional information regarding involvement opportunities may be found by contacting the Office of Student Activities and the Office of Recreation and Wellness.
