Omicron Delta Kappa will invite all eligible University of Richmond sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students to apply.
Phi Eta Sigma will invite all eligible University of Richmond first-year students to apply.
Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society
Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, recognizes and encourages superior leadership and exemplary character. O∆K encourages collaboration among members across the five pillars of leadership celebrated by O∆K: academics and research, athletics, service to campus and community, communications, and creative and performing arts. Founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, O∆K honors and develops leaders through scholarships, workshops, career development, leadership resources, and a lifelong connection to other members. The Society also champions its leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service.
OΔK has more than 300 circles of record at colleges and universities across the United States. We remain committed to developing campus leaders who will become tomorrow’s community leaders.
O∆K only accepts sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate student members. Undergraduates must be in the top 35% of their class. Graduate students must meet stringent criteria set by each circle. Faculty, staff, and alumni must be leaders in their field, on campus, or in the community. Less than 5% of eligible students will receive an invitation to join. This is an honor that will serve you throughout your life.
Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society
Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society rewarding first-year scholarship. Its goal is to encourage and reward academic excellence among first-year students in institutions of higher learning.
Phi Eta Sigma was founded by three distinguished Phi Beta Kappa members, professors, and administrators at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923, to encourage and recognize high scholastic achievement among members of the freshman classes. Phi Eta Sigma is the third most senior member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the oldest and largest first-year honor society. Phi Eta Sigma has more than 350 chapters throughout the United States and more than 950,000 inducted members. The University of Richmond chapter of Phi Eta Sigma was started in 1971 and was number 183.
Phi Eta Sigma was voted membership into the Association of College Honor Societies in 1937. Members take a great deal of pride in the 85-year accomplishments of the Society despite the fact that they have the lowest membership fee of any member of the association.
